Whats the biggest difference between greatness and mediocrity? What if I were to tell you that the only prerequisite to success is hard work? Would you believe me?
We all want to know the secrets of high achievers, but the truth is that there are so many ingredients that we usually do not see and notice which makes the recipe for success.
So the secret ingredient is the mindset. It’s not just working hard that will take you to the finish line. In fact, more often than not it’s the thoughts you think that separates the average from the successful. It’s something that you may not see with the naked eye but it holds the power to make or break your entire ambitious campaign.
It should be the first and necessary step you need to work towards before you embark on the journey. As you would agree with me that the human potential is limitless but having potential certainly is not the same as doing something with it. The only thing that keeps us all from realizing our true potentials is not having the right mindset.
Make no mistake, the most successful people have it. If you also aspire to climb up to that league, you would need to work on that. So, before we get into the steps you need to take, ask yourself if you’re willing to do what it takes to ascend to greatness.
Here are 5 ways to alter your current reality & become unstoppable.
1. Find your Why:
Before you do anything, You must determine your WHY before you ask the WHAT and the HOW. You have to identify who you are and why you are doing what you’re doing. Finding your WHY will give you purpose and belief that will inspire you every single morning to get out of the bed in pursuit of your dreams.
It will help you find the clarity to make better decisions in life and not live your life by accident which most of us are guilty of — We live as it happens
2. Assume Success:
The sad truth is, that we have been programmed all our lives to doubt ourselves. We need to re-wire ourselves to eliminate our fears and self-doubt. Our intellect is a slave to our belief. And beliefs are what guides our behavior. Whatever we strongly and genuinely believe in, we tend to take massive action towards it. Our belief is the primary catalyst driving our efforts. Because remember, nothing will work if you don’t believe in it.
So get rid of the beliefs that hold you back and cultivate a mental framework that propels you towards your goals.
3. Mental Growth:
According to the renowned Stanford University Professor Carol Dweck, all great achievers believe they can always improve and grow in every aspect of life and business. This is known as a growth mindset.
Think of your mind as a search engine. The more information you feed to it, the more efficient it becomes in solving problems and develop its own algorithms to aid you in critical situations. The way we interpret failures and setbacks is always our own choice. We can either choose to learn from our failures and expand our abilities or we can let it go and get demoralized. Perspective is everything here.
Consider including some mental dexterity rituals in your daily routine, like reading books, listening to relevant podcasts etc.
4. Never be afraid of failure:
The fear of failure is paralyzing. It will make you not take any action at all and resist moving forward. If you want to do big things for yourself you need to reassess your understanding of ‘failure’.
We’ve been conditioned all our lives to think that failing is embarrassing and we should never fail. This kind of negativity keeps us from even trying to do something because we are so terrified of failing. We all can overcome this challenge by recalibrating our beliefs, values, and understanding of some basic laws of the universe.
When we start taking setbacks as one step forward towards success our entire mental attitude will change for the better. There is no success without failure. In fact, failure is a prerequisite for success.
“Failure is the mother of success.” This Chinese quote clearly explains that a loss is far more valuable than an early victory because it will bring you more experience and make you much more resilient, it reveals your weaknesses and pushes you for improvement and planning.
5. Audit your Surroundings:
Its a simple law of the universe — You become what you surround yourself with. You are the thoughts that you think, and the people you spend time with.
Introspect your circle and ask yourself, are they helping you to become a better person? Are they helping you to achieve what you always wanted? Do they inspire you to level up? If your answer is NO! Cut em out of your life. It may feel a little harsh but when you are clear on what your purpose is, it will not be too difficult.
If you constantly surround yourself with high achievers, you will find out that reaching your goals isn’t that difficult. But if you hang out with 4 broke people, you’re bound to be the 5th.
Find mentors, we live in the greatest era of the human history. We have all of the information in the world on our fingertips. Read books, follow successful people and model their behavior.
Make a list of your goals, and how you spend your time every day, the information you feed your mind and re-evaluate your beliefs.
When you make that list you will find that things and people in your life you need to get rid of. When you eliminate all that is negative, all that consumes your energy that does not push you forward, you will create room for bigger and better things to happen in your life and feel much more fulfilled and happy.
